The family announces the burial of Nasir El-Rufai’s mother

The family of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai on Sunday morning announced the funeral prayers of the late Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.

Umma is the mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai and his other children.

According to a statement by his nephew and son of the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Bello El-Rufai, via his social media account, the funeral prayer will take place at the National Mosque, Abuja, on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

Part of the statement reads: “In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

“On behalf of the elders and the entire family, we wish to formally announce the Janazah prayer for our beloved grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who returned to her Creator yesterday.

“The Janazah prayer will take place as follows:National Mosque Abuja, Hon
Sunday. 29 March 2026 by 1pm and burial at Gudu Cemetery (follows immediately thereafter)

“We deeply appreciate the outpouring of prayers, visits and condolences during this time of grief.

“May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive her shortcomings, expand her tomb and grant her the highest place in Aljannatul Firdaus.”

Blueprint.ng reports that as soon as Hajiya Umma’s death was made known, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Crimes Commission (ICPC) released Nasir El-Rufai from detention.
