The former Chelsea midfielder, Lassana Diarra, says she is claiming $ 76 million of FIFA and the Belgian Football Federation after a historical legal victory over the transfer rules.
In a statement issued on Monday by his lawyer Martin Hissel, he said that the claim was for “compensation for damages caused by FIFA rules” in transfers, that the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled to be contrary to European law last October.
“After a decision of the CJUE, in the absence of a friendly solution, it is natural to return to the national courts so that they can implement the CJEU ruling,” HISSEL said in a statement.

“That is what we are doing today, based on a very clear decision of the CJUE, which has resolved all the essential legal points. Belgian courts should give their decisions within 12 to 15 months.”
The CJEU in October found that FIFA rules prevent the free movement of players by “imposing considerable legal risks, unpredictable and potentially very high financial risks, as well as the main sporting risks in those players and clubs that wish to use them”, thus interrupting the transfer system.
The case of Diarra, who is back in court in Belgium, has the support of the Union of Global Players FIFPROits European division and its National Union of Members in France.
