[Press Release] The general manager of the World Trade Organization, OMC, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, has thrown his weight behind the imminent Expo of Tourism and the African creative economy that takes place in November in Abuja.

He urged the African nations to exploit the opportunity provided by the next event to exploit their cultural and creative activities for accelerated commercial and economic growth.

“The theme of this Expo,” optimizing the comparative and competitive advantage of Africa for the accelerated commercial and economic growth “, is timely and highly relevant,” he said.

He added that “Africa is immensely equipped with cultural and tourist opportunities. Now it is time to exploit these advantages to integrate multiple supply chains. In the WTO, we believe that the future of exchanges is in services” – and tourism and creative economy have a central role to play.

The DG expressed appreciation for the invitation to speak to the event.
