The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (Geapp) praised the Federal Government of Nigeria for the progress made towards achieving the Mission 300 goal, a continental initiative aimed at providing access to electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030.
The African director and head of the Geapp delegation, Labna Bhayani, delivered the praise on Monday during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Energy, Capo Adebayo Adelabu, in Abuja.
Bhayani praised the government’s commitment to political reforms, the expansion of the network and the off-group energy programs under the guidance of Adelabu, underlining that Nigeria has recorded significant steps forward since the minister took on the assignment.
“We are impressed by the progress made by Nigeria in political reforms, in particular in the areas of electricity and off-grid programs.
“Although Geapp is a philanthropic organization and not a loan organism such as the World Bank or the AFDB, we are ready to provide technical assistance to help monitor, monitor and accelerate the 300 mission initiatives,” said Bhayani.
He added that the alliance will collaborate with the Ministry of Energy to strengthen the clean energy systems of Nigeria and support rural electrification through innovation and monitoring based on data.
In response, Minister Adebayo Adelabu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the objectives of the 300 mission, explaining that the federal government is implementing several projects aimed at expanding access to energy, in particular in rural communities and in the agricultural sector.
According to Adelabu, the government is giving priority to the implementation of solar energy irrigation systems and renewable energy storage structures for farmers to increase productivity, reduce post-browse losses and feed small rural companies.
