Governor Hyacinth alia of Benue State joined his voice with other Nigerian governors in condemning the growing trend of illegal withdrawals imposed on parents by the owners of schools both in elementary and private and secondary schools.

Describing these practices such as “undue extortion, evil and strong”, the governor alia observed that parents who are simply trying to guarantee western education for their children in government schools at affordable prices should not be exploited.

As part of a vast reform to restore discipline and moral attention in the education sector, the governor alia has forbidden sumptuous graduation parties, non -transferable textbooks and other extravagant needs by schools, in particular at the level of kindergarten and kindergarten.

“This is not the time for the celebrations of unnecessary schools without moral or academic value,” said Alia, “especially when some parents can barely provide three square meals or pay essential commissions”.
