The governor of the State of Abia, Alex Otti, on Saturday, fired the rumors by making the tour that was planning to download the Labor Party (LP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a declaration by his special councilor for the media and advertising, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor Otti reiterated his commitment to the Labor Party, the platform that led him to power and described speculation as unfounded.
Otti firmly denied keeping secret encounters with the governor of the Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, to discuss the Decamping at the APC.
He urged the public to ignore the voices, describing them as false and without substance.
He stressed that any political decision with a significant impact on the Abien would be taken in consultation with people and in their interest.
The governor also felt to overheat the political atmosphere with premature interviews on the 2027 elections, stressing that attention should remain on governance rather than on politics.
In a statement released on Saturday, Ekeoma clarified that after the meeting of the National Economic Council of April 24, the Governor Otti and some other governors simply participated in a private event – the celebration of the birthday of the twins of the governor Uzodinma – who had not disadvantaged politicians.
“The growing popularity of the governor Otti and exceptional services naturally attract attention and political speculation,” said Ekeoma.
“However, any great political move will always be done transparently, taking into account the consent and the best interest of the Abiani”.
He said: “The governor Otti remains a member of the Labor Party and is not discussing, planning or taking into consideration a transfer to the APC or in any other political party”.
