The Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA) has sounded an alarm over the attack of new violence in the regional government of the state highlands, describing the murder as terrible, ritualistic, and major threats to fragile peace in the region.
In a statement issued by the National Director of Public Affairs on Wednesday, Friday, Derwam, the association condemned the brutal murder of a young man, Abalis Ishaku Dayong from Adep Village in Panyam District, which was killed last Saturday.
“Dayong was shot at the feet, stabbed several times, and then beheaded his head. The waste was cut off and carried by the attackers,” Derwam said, warning that the terrible nature of the murder had ritualistic tones.
He further regretted that the kidnapping became increasingly rampant in the council’s axis, where the victims were often kidnapped because of ransoms, with some never returned to life. “In certain cases, even the corpses of the dead are found mutilated,” he added.
President MDA, Deacon Bulus Dabit, also condemned new violence, emphasizing that the attack represented “fragile peace reversal gradually returning to the area.” He described the attack as “a serious insult and setback to the government’s efforts in stabilizing peace in the State of the highlands.”

Supporting the call of the highlands of the highlands for the decentralization of the police, the group stressed that the state police will “provide great benefits in fighting insecurity at the grassroots.”
MDA also urged security institutions to increase operations, act with justice and justice, and bring perpetrators to order. That emphasizes that justice and accountability are very important to prevent further efforts to displace mwaghavul people from their ancestral land.
