Confirming the accident, the speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan said that the killed were passengers waiting to get on board the vehicles.

β€œIt is a pity that nine of my resilient components were killed by IED planted waiting to board vehicles in a local stop in the village of Mairari.

“May Allah grant their anime Aljanatul Firdus. Also please for the rapid recovery of those who have evacuated in the hospitals of Monguno and Maiduguri for care following the accident,” he said.

“You are aware that the village of Mairari, which was previously the only village resetted twice with the civil authority in the entire area of the local government of Guzamala, has been abandoned again due to the attacks of Boko Haram/Iswap.

The legislator has also extended condolences to the families of the deceased and those who have undergone various degrees of injuries.

Lawan also appealed to the military and other security agencies to restore security in Guzamala, in particular in Gudumbali, the headquarters of the Council Mairari Village and the surrounding areas, which have been abandoned and under the control of Boko Haram without civil authority for many years.
