The Jigawa state government has dissolved the executive councils in the state’s 27 local government areas.
The terms of elected officials expire on Friday.
Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Ahmed Garba MK, in a statement issued on Friday ordered the Directors of Administration and Public Service to take over the administration of the local councils.
This move effectively exempts all designated officials, including the Secretary, Oversight Board Members, Special Advisors, and assistants from their appointments.
The Commissioner congratulated the outgoing officials on their successful completion of their term of office.
He also acknowledged their significant contribution to the development of their region and the state as a whole.
The statement read: βFollowing the expiry of the term of office of the elected councils of the 27 local governments in Jigawa State on Friday, the state government has dissolved the councils.

βTherefore, the Director of Administration and Public Services (DAGs) is directed to immediately take over the administration of regional government.
βTherefore, all appointed officials, including the Secretary, Supervisory Board Members, Special Advisors, and assistants of all Local Government Boards, are equally dismissed from their positions.
βIn his remarks, on behalf of the Jigawa State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Hon. Ahmed Garba MK congratulated the outgoing officials on the successful discharge of their tenure, demonstrating significant contributions made to the development of their localities and the state at large.
βHe further asked them to immediately surrender all Government Property in their possession.β
