The Labor Party Crisis: Otti said the suspension by the Abure faction ‘the search for clown desires for the crown’

The Governor of the State of Abia, Dr. Alex Otti, has firmly rejected his suspension which was recognized from the Labor Party, describing the move by former National Chairperson Julius Abure as a theater and despair to hold fast to relevance.

In a statement issued Wednesday by advisors, especially on the media and publicity, Ferdinand Ebeoma, the Governor of Otti condemned the suspension as “jokes taken too far” and accused of subsiding to disguise as party officials despite the Supreme Court’s decision, according to him, had reduced any authority to act as chairman.

“The attention of Governor Alex Otti has been interested in the news of his suspension that was recognized … by the former National Party Chairperson, Julius Abure,” the statement said. “This is not only a joke that was taken too far but insulting democracy by an unimportant group of irritation who really wanted to use the name of the Governor of Otti to advance their own economic agenda.”

The Governor of Otti referred to the Supreme Court’s decision, which he said reinforced the abure of Abure and emphasized the legitimacy of the National Guard Committee led by Senator Nenadi Usman now directed the party’s affairs. The court’s decision, he insisted, took any action taken by Abure Null and Void.

The Governor also noted that Abure’s announcement came only a few hours after he was called by the guard committee to answer the accusations of serious violations, including financial abuse, imitation, and anti-party activities.

“Instead of facing a serious accusation addressed to him, Abure chose to distract the public by announcing the suspension of the Governor of Otti and other party leaders,” the statement continued. “This is a clear political theater case – a clown looking for a crown.”

The Governor of Otti urged the Police Inspector General to act quickly by arresting the event for imitation. He also asked the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) to uphold the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the credibility of the judiciary and protect the Democratic institutions.
