The Labor Party will hold its national convention on April 28.
The party will also hold its state congress on April 25 with the regional congress and local government congress to be held on April 23 and April 24 respectively.
LP stated this in a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and signed by the party’s Interim National Chair, Nenadi Usman.
The letter was made available to journalists on Friday in Abuja.
According to Usman, the letter was to inform the commission regarding the schedule of activities that had been approved for the 2026 Elected Regional Labor Party, Local Government Area (LGA), and State Congress, as well as the National Convention.
He said the letter was in line with the provisions of Article 82(1) of the 2022 Election Law (as amended), INEC Political Parties Regulations and Guidelines, as well as Articles 223(1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution.

The LP chairman said the section mandates political parties to notify the commission about their congresses, conventions and meetings.
“The Commission may recall that the Party, in previous correspondence, had informed the Commission of the postponement of previously scheduled activities to allow wider member participation.
“Specifically to enable the completion of the ongoing digital membership registration process.
“Therefore, the party has now agreed to a new schedule for holding the Elective Congress and National Convention.
“Meanwhile, the national convention is scheduled for April 28 at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, Abia.”
He urged the commission to draw the attention of its state offices to the notification to enable effective and smooth monitoring of the congress and convention in line with constitutional and statutory mandates.
Usman assured of the party’s continued commitment to the development of democracy in Nigeria.
