A lecturer who is said to be a professor at the University of Nigeria has become a sensation of the internet after he was filmed teaching in an empty class because his students failed to appear for college.
In a video that has become viral and has drawn both praise and beats for the professor, he is seen issuing his lecture as if he has students in class.
According to some social media commentators, lecturers are said to be professors in the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education at the University of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Lapai, Niger State, and filmed to speak to classes that do not exist about what should be the first day of lectures for this semester.
The professor was seen standing in front of a row of empty chairs and calmly explained that even though no students appeared, he felt it was important to emerge and register his presence.
“Today, we have started our course program for this semester but unfortunately, students have not been seen,” he said.

“But I am happy that Dr. Sunday Jonathan who is an advisor to the course students for the Department and Director of Quality Assurance for the Department also exists and watch the empty class.
“Just like, I feel I have to be around to register my presence.”
The lecturer’s actions also triggered waves of concern over the current commitment of student crops in this country while others argue that lecturers can improve their lectures at an unfavorable time for students.
Some users also state that the professor’s actions are not necessary or mentally healthy and many suggest that the incident may result from communication disorders.
