The little -known Nigerian defender chose Balogun replacement in the Scottish rangers

The Rangers have opened conversations with Peterborough of the English Soccer League Peterborough for the signing of the 23 -year -old Nigerian defender Emmanuel Oluwasegun Opeyemi FernΓ‘ndez, reports Owngoalnigeria.com.

The new coach of the Russell Martin Rangers elected the defender as his election to replace the International Defender of Nigeria, Leon Balogun, who left the club for the Chipre Aris Limassol team at the expiration of his contract.

The defender was the goal of the Norwich City English championship in the January transfer window, but ended up staying on the side of the One League until the end of the season. It was a usual last season for his team that ended 18 in the registry.

FernΓ‘ndez made 42 appearances in all competitions for the posth in the 2024-25 campaign, starting at 39 of those outputs. He played almost every minute in the club’s EFL trophy campaign when they reached the final in Wembley and beat Birmingham 2-0 in April.

Standing at an impressive height of 6 feet and 4 inches, he showed his eyes by goals when he scored five times last season. His current contract extends until June 2027 after his last extension of the contract in 2024.

His firm will add depth to the defense of the Rangers, who currently have John Souttar, Robin Propper, Leon King and Clinton Nnsiala in their central ranks.
