One of the victims of Saturday’s attack by the alleged Fulani militia in the Yelwata community, the Guma regional government in the state of Benue had remembered how he lost 20 family members in the incident.
The attackers during the attack killed more than 200 people to throw the country and all countries to mourn.
The victim, Michael Ajah, who narrated his fate in a video, said that regardless of family members who were lost in coordinated attacks, their homes, shops and foodstuffs were destroyed by the attackers who he insisted were Fulani’s pastors.
“My family members died in this house, 11 of them, and some died in other stores, 8 of them. All members of my family who died that day, they were 20 years old,” Ajah said.
“I talked about my own family members, I didn’t talk about other people who died that day. The burning shops were my shops. My house was there and it was also burned.
“My shop that I wrapped my belongings was also burned. They burned our clothes, they burned our food, we just came out with what we was wearing that night.

When asked to tell how the whole attack began, Ajah said:
“On that day, the rain began, so I entered. I was sleeping but around 10:20, I heard the sound of shots in the back but before we knew what happened, people Fulani came in …”
Asked how he knew they were fulanis, the man added:
“They spoke Fulani and I heard them clearly. Didn’t someone tell me, I heard it for myself. I was indoors when they surrounded us.”
