[Press Release] The Minister of Education, dr. Tunji Alausa said that the State Government of Yobe has become a role model between the country’s states in the development and promotion of financial education.
He declared it when he hosted Nafisa Garba, Rukayya Mohammed Fema and Khadija Kashim, the winners of the global competition for teenagers of 2025 in London, in the United Kingdom.
The minister said that “the state government of Yobe gave priority to fundamental education to quickly monitor the development of education in the state”.
He explained that Yobe State’s participation in the competition and emerging as the world champion is a pride for Nigeria as a whole.
Dr. Tunji praised the government of the state, parents and teachers for giving girls the support that allowed them to excel in the world competition.
The minister assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has a society that believes in human capital and “education has a great future for young people in Nigeria”.
The minister presented the winners of personal support signals in the appreciation of the performance of girls in the Teenagle competition.
The State Commissioner of Yobe for the basic education Prof. Abba Idris, said: “Today we are celebrating the victory. A victory of the resilience of the people and a victory of an unusual commitment of a governor who believes in the power of education as a key to a prosperous future of his people and the state.
“I am happy to share with you that part of the measures adopted by the Buni Administration to renew the basic education sector include the reconstruction of about 300 schools destroyed by the insurrection, established 15 megs and models of schools of models and eight new Senior secondary schools to enhance female education, the books procured, the laboratory equipment and other teaching materials.
“The government has built 627 new classrooms and renewed another 448, employed over 5,000 new teachers, 9,452 format, built 119 quarters of staff, obtained 85,550 class furniture sets, 2,200 teachers furniture, infants 61 schools to strengthen safety around primary schools, built 178 blocks and honors and 35 floods among others.
“I wanted to inform this meeting that the state government spent over N4 billion in its school feeding program for boarding students. This has significantly improved enrollment and has checked cases of absenteeism in schools
“I am also proud to inform you that the State Government of Yobe has constantly paid for Waec, Neco, Nabteb, Nbais and Bee exam commissions for our candidates in all public schools throughout the State with over n3 billion paid for this year. To date, the state government of Yoube is not indebted by any examination body compared to the exam costs.
“In our educational investment drive, the state government has invested over n2.2 billion scholarships for 890 students from Nigeria Tulip International College, with Nafisa, Rukayya and Hadiza that we celebrate on this occasion as part of the beneficiaries.
“In the same way, to guarantee a continuously diet in our schools, the state government has spent N2.3 billion to provide solar energy electricity supply in 72 secondary schools.
“Recently, The State Government Expended N1.923 Billion on rehabilitation of GSS Daura, Gdss Damaturu, GSS Jakusko, GSS GESIDAM, GSTC NGURU, and GGSS Gadaka, While, N1.1 Billion Was Expend on the Construction of Perimeter Fence at Gstc Damagum, GSS Daura, Ghic. Nguru, GSS Dagona, and GSS Jakusko, with further N750 million for the rehabilitation of 150 Almajiri schools, “he added.
