Transport Minister Sa’idu Alkali has resigned ahead of Tuesday’s deadline to resign public office holders with election ambitions in 2027.
The former minister met with President Bola Tinubu at State House, Abuja. on Tuesday to brief him on the progress.
Alkali was among the cabinet members who resigned to pursue elective office ahead of the 2027 general elections, in line with President Tinubu’s directive.
Sources told journalists that the closed-door meeting was “related to the former minister’s next political move in Gombe State.”

Alkali is reportedly eyeing the Gombe governorship race ahead of the next election cycle.
He joins a growing list of former cabinet members, including Amb. Yusuf Tuggar (Bauchi) and Yusuf Sununu (Kebbi), both former ministers.
The president had previously ordered ministers with political ambitions to resign on or before March 31.
