The minister who had “falsified” the certificates

UCC NNAJI, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, has resigned.

Bayo Onanuga, presidential spokesman, confirmed it in a statement last Tuesday.

Nnaji is in the eye of the cyclone regarding its academic titles.

Following an investigation by Premium Times, the University of Nigeria, NSUKKA (UNN), has denied the degree certificate in Science in possession of the former minister, stating that the politician did not complete his studies at the Institute and a certificate has never been issued to him.

According to Premium Times, Simon U. Ortuanya, vice -changing of the Unne Unit, said that although Nnaji was admitted to the institution in 1981, he did not complete his studies and has never graduated.

The platform added that the authorities of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) also confirmed that the National Service certificate exhibited by Nnaji was strange and could not be authenticated.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, following some accusations against him.

“President Tinubu appointed Nnaji in August 2023. He resigned today in a letter thanking the president for allowing him to serve Nigeria.

“Nnaji said he was the subject of blackmail by political opponents.

“President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him every good for his future commitments,” reads the Declaration of Onanuga.
