A non-governmental organization, the children’s villages of the SOS in collaboration with Iux Nigeria have given educational material to the pupils of the Elementary School of the Community, IKIJA in the area of ββthe local government of Ijebu-East of Ogun.
Speaking to the event, the National Director of the NGO, Eghosa Erhumwunse, said that the gesture was born from the need for children to access quality education even in remote areas.
Represented by the programs official, Ayodeji Adelopo, said that it was not enough to provide education to children, but also appropriate to provide them with materials and resources required.
βThe government is the main bearer when it comes to providing access to quality education.
βEducation is a fundamental right of children and even children in this community are not excluded.
βOne of the things that our government owes to children is to make sure they are able to access education as they are safe and protected; they are not bullied victims and their rights are not violated.
“We believe that for children they have access to quality education, it goes beyond school, they must have materials and resources necessary to receive lessons and bring their objects to school,” he said
Erhumwunse added that the donated materials were to integrate the government’s efforts in providing education and qualitative support to children, adding that the action would have done a lot to motivate pupils and help them achieve their goals.
βThey are partners like Iux who make the job we do in every corner of the country and touch the lives of children who are very needy.
“One thing we can give to a child and nobody will take from them is the quality education that puts them on a pedestal for a bright future,” he said
At the beginning of his welcome speech, the school teacher, Grace Oyewole expressed appreciation to donors for the gesture.
“To resist the gap for the least privileged to ensure that our student has access to basic educational needs,” he said.
The head of zonal education in the local government area, Rasheed Okuboyejo, praised the organizations for the donation, which according to him would have encouraged pupils to take education seriously.
The donated articles include 150 bags for school and dining bags, lunch boxes, exercises and writing materials, among others.
