The chief judge of the state of the Niger, the judge Halima Abdulmalik, on the weekend updated the practical direction for the small courses of complaints in the state by raising their financial jurisdiction to manage cases within the N5 million threshold.
The chief register of the High Court of the State of the Niger, Amina L. Musa-Saidu, declared him in a press release released to Minna.
“Significant changes include an increase in the financial jurisdiction of the Court of small declarations, increasing the threshold from N3.000.000 (three million Naira) to N5.000.000 (five million Naira). This adjustment allows a wider ranging range to pursue debt recovery and the relative requests efficiently and reduced costs,” he said.
The Chief Registration has declared that article 5 of the practical direction has been revised to simplify the convocation service, now allowing the service replaced by e -mail, adding that “this enhancement aims to improve clarity, transparency and deadlines in the notification parts, ultimately by minimizing delays”.
He said that small courts of complaints in the state have been increased by two to 14 in numbers scattered throughout the state and operating in the courts of the magistrate designated, adding that “Article 14 has been simplified to simplify the appeal procedures, ensuring that the disputes have rapid access to the revision of the appeal without facing unnecessary technicalities”.
The declaration states that the chief judge said that these reforms demonstrate the constant dedication of the judiciary to improve access to justice and build public confidence in the judicial system.
He appealed to stakeholders to familiarize himself with the new provisions in order to maximize the use of small courts for the resolution of simple debt recovery issues.
The main register said that the updated practice of practice for the small declarations of complaints was published in the State Gazette n. 16 of 2025, adding that the magazine management replaces the 2018 guidelines.
