The Nigerian government approved the new digital identity verification system, Nininauth

The federal government has approved a new identity verification system to be used nationally.

This service, known as Nin Authentication (Nininauth), was launched by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and is now the official platform to verify the identity related to the Nigerian National Identification Number (NIN).

This development was announced in Lagos on Tuesday through an official statement by the Head of NIMC Corporate Communication, Kayode Adegoke, which confirmed that the presidency had also directed all Ministries, Departments and Institutions (MDA) to adopt the Nininauth platform as the main method for identity verification.

According to Adegoke, this strategic shift is part of the implementation of the new hope of the President of the Tinubu Bola, which emphasizes the provision of efficient public services and digital citizens.

“This supports the new hope of President Tinubu, which aims to increase how identity is managed in the country,” Adegoke said.

Nininauth services introduce a modern approach to identity verification by allowing users to authenticate their identities through web portals, cellular applications, and fire integration. It promises to provide greater security, user privacy, and transparency, empower Nigeria and the inhabitants of law to manage their personal data with greater confidence.

One of the main features is the user’s approval. Individuals must endow their data use before they can be accessed for services such as Know Your Customer (KYC) check, SIM registration, passport applications, tax submissions, banking transactions, and government social intervention programs.

This platform is also equipped with a single entry feature, which allows smooth and safe access to several services using one verified identity.

The federal government instructions for all MDAs marked a significant step towards the standardization of cross -sector identity verification, ensuring that NIN data was used uniformly, safely, and with user awareness.

“This platform adds a strong layer of protection and gives people more control over their personal information,” Adegoke said, adding that the system was built to facilitate the validation of real time identity while obeying the best global practice in data security.
