The Nigerian government denies the signing agreement with Asuu

The federal government has denied signing an agreement with the University Academic Staff (ASUU).

Minister of Education, Dr. Supi Alausa, made clarification when asking questions from journalists about the ongoing Asuu protest throughout the country.

He said that it was contrary to the impression of some Nigerians, the government had never signed a bond agreement with Asuu and described the document as a draft.

The minister stressed that the government was not interested in “fake or non -sustainable agreements” but in reaching an agreement that could be implemented and constitutionally supported.

The union has been, for a week, threatening to carry out a new strike over the failure of the federal government to overcome its demands.

Alausa said: “We are committed to solving this problem once and for all. What has survived since the 2009 and 2021 agreements will now be handled in a sustainable manner.
