The Nigerian leagues win Big On Integrity: Adeboye predicts an important sponsorship boom after the historic 2024/25 season

The president’s special assistant on base sports development, Hon. Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, has acclaimed the leadership of the three main soccer leagues in Nigeria, NPFL, NNL and NLO, for supervising what he describes as the most transparent, competitive season based on integrity into recent history.

In an interview awarded to Sports247 Abuja, Adeboye praised Otunba Gbenga Elebleyeye, president of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL); George Aluo, president of the National League of Nigeria (NNL); and Olushola Ogunnowo, director of Operations of the Nationwide League One (NLO), for its visionary leadership during the 2024/25 season.

According to Adeboye, the Nigerian National League system is experiencing a cultural transformation, with the victories it was more common and the former mentality of “winning in the entire cost” that fades. He cited improved improvements, league management reforms and participation in the media as key indicators of this change.

Adeboye said the NPFL concluded with emerging removable stars in a career for the fiercely played title, while eight teams have qualified for NNL Super 8 playoffs based only on merit.

He added that NLO One playoffs are currently in progress throughout the country, and Division three playoffs completed successfully weeks ago.

Despite its own club, Smart FC de Lagos, which does not qualify for NNL playoffs, Adeboye emphasized that each team that advanced deserved their place and that interested parties must prioritize the development of the National League over personal ambition.

He described the 2024/25 season as an important turning point in Nigerian football and predicted that corporate sponsorship will soon continue due to the new standards of professionalism and equity in the leagues.

Adeboye said that the reforms are aligned directly with the renewed agenda of hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who gives a premium to the empowerment of young people through sports.

He reaffirmed the continuous support of the Federal Government to the Base Initiatives and Professional Soccer Initiatives.

“This is not just a progress, it is a paradigm shift,” Adeboye said. “What these league leaders are doing is to build a soccer ecosystem based on merit, integrity and national pride.”

It concluded encouraging all those interested in Nigerian football to support the current impulse and contribute to the success and long -term sustainability of the national leagues.
