The NLC declared war on the dangote group, the order of the national strike of the “Exploitation Plantation

The Nigerian-organized labor movement has taken the most confrontative attitude towards the largest conglomerate in Africa, because the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) has ordered a national strike over what he calls “Systemic Anti-Workers Crushed” and “Exploitation Plantation.”

In a highly written internal memo signed by the President of the NLC, Friend Joe Ajaero, and dated on Monday, September 29, 2025, the Congress said the time for negotiations had ended.

According to the memo, “The ongoing dispute with passing and nupeng is only a symptom of a deeper problem: Systemic Anti-Lipstation Policy Destruction of Trade Unions, Exploitation of Workers, and ignoring the rule of law that defines the practice of group industrial relations.”

Ajaero accused the dangote conglomerate of operation beyond the legal limits and democratic order of Nigeria. “For too long, the dangote group has been operating like a state in a state, violates the 40 part of the Nigerian constitution, violates the ILO 87 and 98 conventions, and treats our labor laws by insult. The facilities have become exploitation plantations in which workers are deliberately destroyed in pursuing profits for several.”

The President of the NLC stated that workers will no longer tolerate the situation.

“The time to ask for and dialogue without results has ended. Moments for collective actions that determine now. All affiliate unions are hereby placed on direct and full warnings, starting with strong and comprehensive trade unions of all workers in dangote facilities under your jurisdiction. This is a strategic priority.”

He further directed the union to get ready for the national dispute: “Starting preparations to mobilize members and resources for full scale involvement and determine the anti-employment attitude of dangote group.”

NLC demands for explicit dangote groups: “Unconditional respect for the rights of workers to freely join the trade union of their choice, the end of intimidation, victimation, and union destroyer activities, and full compliance with the laws and Nigerian labor institutions.”

The congress also issued detailed mobilization instructions: “To uphold direction, each affiliation union has been instructed to immediately form a mobilization committee of action and cooperate with the National Secretariat of the NLC within 72 hours to coordinate strategies, logistics, and communication.

The Labor Agency accused the regulator of looking in the other way: “NLC accused the dangote group of operation of impunity, accused that the regulatory authority had failed to control its strengths. The impunity of dangote groups that must be fulfilled by organized workers. The Hold Conglomerate is responsible.”

In the last call, the NLC warned that history would not forgive the underliest: “Blood and sweat of Nigerian workers to build dangote empires; we will not let them become their oppression monuments. Together we stand up! Together, we will overcome it!”

This strike is threatening to interfere with operations in various sectors, including petroleum, manufacturing, logistics, and construction – signify one of the most significant disputes between organized labor and private conglomerates in this new history.
