The Benue State Chapter from the northern group coalition, (CNG), has issued a stern warning to the Governor of Hyacinth Alia for what he described as a worrying level of murder and kidnapping in Otukpo and the regional region of the regional government and other parts of the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the CNG State Coordinator, Daniel Okwa, the group expressed his sadness and concern for the situation and the government’s inadequate response to the wave of violence that increased, and urged the administration led by Alia to prioritize the safety and welfare of citizens outside the situation outside further control.
Condemning the unrelenting attacks by unknown armed men who are said to have created a fearful climate, paralyzed economic activity, and replaced many families throughout the state, CNG noted that the silence of political leaders and security agencies in dealing with bloodsheds that were not only unacceptable.
“The coalition of northern groups, Benue State Chapter, was forced to demand immediate action to overcome increased violence and bloodshed in Otukpo, Gwest West, and other parts of the Benue state,” the group’s statement rang.
“Enthusiastic attacks on innocent citizens have created a climate of fear and insecurity, and your inadequate administrative response has made the crisis worse.
“Therefore, we demand direct distribution of personnel and security equipment: spreading additional security personnel and equipment to affected areas to prevent further attacks.
“The state government must collaborate with relevant neighboring institutions, organizations and neighboring countries to share the best intelligence and practice in combating insecure.

“Murder and abduction that is incessantly in Otukpo and other parts of the benue has made the community jammed, with residents demanding urgent actions from your government to overcome the waves of insecurity.
“The Idoma and Tiv community also condemned the continuous silence of political leaders and security institutions for endless bloodshed.
“The state government must prioritize the safety and welfare of a benue citizen. Immediate action is needed to overcome the security challenges in Otukpo, GWer West, and other parts of the country. We are ready to support and work with your administration to achieve this goal.”
This group continues to make a list of new attacks in several state communities, especially in Otukpo and Gwer West who have witnessed a wave of new violence.
“In this new attack last week, the residents of the Olena area in the hope community were forced to escape from their homes after a series of deadly attacks by the alleged shepherds, who claimed several lives, including a retired immigration officer.
“Likewise, on April 3, 2025, armed men hijacked the Benue Links bus that was fully charged at Ikobi, killed the driver and kidnapped all passengers.
“This incident has triggered protests by angry youths in Otukpo, demanding government intervention immediately to stop bloodshed and restore security to the region,” the group said.
