The National Security Councilor (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Tuesday, delivered two women saved from kidnappers to Kaduna to their family, since the security agencies have announced the arrest of suspicions related to numerous high -profile crimes.
The national coordinator of the National Coonterrorism Center (NCTC), Mag.-Gen. Adamu Laka, who represented the NSA, presented the victims – Khadijah and Fatimah Shehu Magaji – to her husband Alhaji Shehu Magaji.
Laka said that women were kidnapped on August 18 in Makarfi, in Kaduna’s state, and held in the Yadi forest, in the area of the local government of Giwa, for 33 days in difficult conditions. While he was in captivity, Khadijah gave birth to a girl, Hafet.
“The kidnappers requested ₦ 500 million, subsequently reduced to ₦ 200 million. However, through dialogue and intelligence, we obtained their liberation without redemption,” said Laka.
The victims were saved on September 19 and subsequently met with the government of the Kaduna state before the delivery of Tuesday.
He also revealed that the security forces had carried out significant arrests in separate operations, including Ibrahim Mohammed (aka Aryye) and Adamu Mohammed, which are connected to armed robberies, kidnappings and multiple killings.
According to Laka, the network of suspicions was responsible for the murder of a legislator in Gareywa and the killing of a division police officer in Gwagwalada, Abuja, with operations that embraced Delta, Kaduna, Kano and Nasarawa.
“This operation is proof that Nigeria’s anti -terrorism strategy is producing results.
“But our greatest weapon remains unity and resilience as a people,” he added.
