The Obidient movement has firmly rejected the media report which shows that the principal, Peter Obi, has agreed to the political arrangement to serve as a running partner for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 Presidential Election.
In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, the Director of Strategic Communication for this Movement, Nana Kazaure, said the refutation became necessary because of the broad attention and public attention produced by the claim.
Kazaure stated, “Obidient movements have been flooded with calls from our members at home and abroad, including other community members, regarding media publications that claim that our principal, Peter Obi, has been offered the position of the couple who are running to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the new coalition formed by 2027.”
While acknowledging that the report seemed to be fabricated, he warned that ignoring it could allow incorrect information to spread uncontrollably.
“Even as we know that this publication is imaginary for the writer, we are tempted not to ignore it because of the possibility of misunderstanding far in public spaces,” Kazaure said.

He clarified that while dialogue with political stakeholders was ongoing, there was no agreement like that.
“While honest and friendly involvement with our partners and stakeholders towards the coalition continues peacefully, the obidient movement wants to decisively state that there is no truth or basis for any report,” he stressed.
Kazaure stressed that the main motivation of Peter Obi remained rooted in overcoming national problems, not political position.
“Without the risk of contradictions, we want to reaffirm that Obi has stated that its goals and involvement in the coalition, is to provide unity front of and handle poor government problems, corruption, hunger, poverty, poor health care, outside of school and many daily daily problems that are aborting people in Nigeria,” Nigeria.
He further emphasized the commitment of the movement to politics that focused on people rather than political ambitions.
“We want progressive politics, stand firm with people and serve great people in Nigeria and not politics just for the sake of gaining power,” Kazaure said.
Kazaure also stressed that Peter Obi remains a member of the Labor Party, and every change in affiliation will be communicated directly by him.
“At this time point, Peter Obi remains in the labor party, and if this changes, he will make the announcement itself,” he said.
Concluding, he urged the media and the public to avoid sensationalism and vice versa focus on efforts that contribute to national development.
“Obidient movements want to give advice on sensationalism and speculation about this problem. At this difficult time, all Nigerians and the media, inclusive, must emphasize and contribute to building a better country,” Kazaure said.
