The organizers of the Prosperity Cup have training clinic to sharpen the base soccer coaches in Bayelsa

The largest and prestigious base football competition in Nigeria, the Prosperity Cup, will organize a one -week coaching clinic aimed at improving the technical skills of coaches that participate in this year’s tournament.

The clinic, scheduled to take place from March 3 to 7, 7 of 2025, at the Nuj Press Center, Ekeki, Yenagoa, will be carried out by experienced soccer experts, led by NFF technical director, Augustine Eguavoen. Other resource people include Ladan Bosso (President, Association of Coaches of Nigeria and coach of Bayelsa United), former International Edema Fuludu, Ibrahim Gwadabe and Fatai Adejumo.

By revealing this to the journalists, the general director of the Central Organizing Committee of the Prosperity Cup, Mr. Ono Akpe, emphasized that fifty coaches will participate in the clinic, which is one of the two scheduled for this year’s tournament.

AKPE stressed that the objective of the clinic is to improve the technical and tactical skills of grassroots coaches, ensuring that football enthusiasts in the quality games of Bayelsa witnesses. He affirmed that this initiative is aligned with the vision of Governor Dueye I was going to empower Bayelsan through sports development under the safe prosperity agenda.

Beyond winning trophies and money awards, AKPE emphasized that the state government is committed to developing base coaches, preparing them for the NFF D training license, which serves as a path to the prestigious CAF B-License.

He pointed out that the second phase of the training clinic will take place after the Grand Final, where participating coaches will receive certificates.

AKPE urged grassroots coaches in the state to take this opportunity to adopt modern training techniques in line with global standards. I also appreciate Governor Douye Diri, Vice Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and the Sports Development Commissioner, Dr. Daniel Igali, for his unwavering support for base football in Bayelsa.

In addition, he asked Bayelsa’s youth to stay away from social vices and leverage initiatives such as the Prosperity Cup to show their talents and develop significant careers in football.
