The Plant Police Command of the Plateau rejected the widespread voices of an alleged threat of bomb aimed at the University of Jos (Unijos) and other parts of Jos Metropolis, describing the statements as not verified and without credible tests.

The rumors, which have spread rapidly on social media, followed the circulation of a memo presumably emitted by the university safety division and signed by the interim Chief Security Officer.

The reminder, dated 4 July 2025, warned of a possible bombing accident within the university community.

In response, the police commissioner, the CP Emmanuel Adhesina, reassured the public that no credible intelligence supported the alleged threat.

However, he underlined that the police were taking the situation seriously and had implemented proactive measures to guarantee public safety.

To this end, CP Adhesin has ordered the immediate implementation of the explosive device disposal unit (EOD) on the Unijos campus and other sensitive positions within Jos to thoroughly inspect the areas.

It also has directed teams of specialized patrols, bombs and officers of the state intelligence department (SID) to guarantee key areas and maintain greater surveillance throughout the city.

The police spokesman, DSP Alfred Alabo, in a declaration, invited the residents to remain calm but vigilant, advising them to report any individual or suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.

“We want to ensure good people from the plateau who is not any cause of alarm. While we seriously deal with all the threats, this detail remains untreated. Our officers are completely lined up and vigilant,” said Cp Adhesina.

He also warned the public from disseminating un verageed information capable of inciting fear or disturbing public order, reaffirming the commitment of the command in maintaining peace and guaranteeing the security of all residents.
