Police operations in Lagos have arrested four alleged members of the Child Trading Syndicate in Lagos.
Spokesman for the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this in a statement on Friday at Lagos.
He said the suspects were suspected of being involved in recruiting and carrying young Nigeria to Ghana for prostitution.
The spokesman added that the police arrested the suspects, who were between 31 and 54, in various locations in the state.
Hundeyin said: “On August 13, the operations of the Ilemba Hausa division intercepted and arrested one of the suspects, who were suspected of being Okada and Recruiters, who had 15 -year -old female victims who were traded to Ghana for prostitution.

“This case, after that, was moved to the Special Command squad, which, supported by intelligence that could be followed up, launched a fast and coordinated hunting that caused the arrest of three other suspects.
“Investigations revealed that all the suspects arrested were part of the recruiting criminal network and the trafficking of young women from Nigeria to Ghana.”
He explained that further investigation caused safe rescue from 10 additional victims, aged between 21 and 29.
“Everyone who is saved now in the treatment of protection, receiving the support and assistance needed, while the settings are made to reunite them with their families.
“The suspects remain in custody and actively assist investigators in fully uncovering the network,” he said.
