The police prohibit control of suspected phones without a mandate, says Ebonyi CP – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

The weekend of Command of the Ebonyi State Police said that the force prohibits the control of people’s phone without a mandate.

This was like the state commissioner of the police, Adaku Uche-Anya, described the indiscriminate control of suspicious phones and the transfer of money from the phones to policemen as crime.

Ebonyi State University, Ebsu, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu -alike ikwo, AE -Funai and some members of the public, complained about unauthorized harassment and controls of their phones from the policemen.

They also complained of the fact that the police staff transfer the money from their accounts.

But the UCC-Arya CP during a meeting of the Town Hall with the interested parties of security at Police Agents Mess, warned the staff against the bad trend, describing it as a criminal.

He observed that the Police Forces hierarchy forbids control of telephones without a mandate.

Anya provided the public with the number of contacts of high officials to report any infringements by the police personnel in the State.

He warned the members of the public from taking the laws in their hands or to commit themselves to the jungle justice.

He expressed gratitude to the parties concerned for their collaboration in guaranteeing state security.

The commissioner explained that the purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the services of the command and identify the areas for improving the provision of services.

Traditional sovereigns, representatives of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Union Congress (TUC), the National Association of Nigerian Students (Nans), National Union of Road Transport Workers (Nurtw), Nigeria Union of Journalists (Nuj), market leader and other parties concerned, attended the meeting.
