The operation attached to the intelligence response team (IRT) from the Nigerian police had saved two Ghana residents who were kidnapped in the country.
They also captured key members from the abduction of the syndicate operating throughout the international border.
The troop community relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
He said the operation followed a report submitted to the Abuja National Bureau of the National Bureau (NCB) on April 27 concerning the kidnapping of Anastasia Ghana 48 years old Arthur alias Baidoo.
Adejobi said: “The main breakthrough in the investigation includes the arrest of a Christian Emeka, a 27-year-old Nigerian who lives in Bolgatanga, East Ghana Atas, who claimed to receive GH10,000 Cedis as a ransom for victims through his Ghana cellular account.
“He further acknowledged to transfer Naira which is equivalent to the Bank Nigeria account owned by one Peter Okoye.
“On May 1, 2025, the operation of the intelligence response team managed to track Okoye, the main suspect, to Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
“The suspect was arrested along with members of his syndicate: Paulinus Chidokwe, 35, and Chinonso Okafor, 35. Two women Ghana, Ms. Anastasia Arthur alias Baidoo and Amaseerwaa Konadu, who were victims of this kidnapper, were rescued in the process.
