The police operation in the river has saved a kidnapped victim identified as Mathew Zephaniah in Oyigbo, the region of the Oyigbo Regional Government in the state.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Ayongse-Koko, said in a statement on Wednesday at Port Harcourt that the victim was saved in a joint. The operation by the police and members of the vigilante group followed credible information.
He said the operators involved the kidnappers in a fierce weapon duel with many criminals who fled with gunshot wounds.
The statement reads: “In an extraordinary operational skill, the Rivers State Police Command has succeeded in saving one mathew John Zephaniah, ‘M’ a kidnapped victim, followed the coordinated operation by commando operations.
