Thursday, the presidency announced that President Bola Tinubu will return to Nigeria after the Easter holidays.
The presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, revealed it in response to the criticisms that followed Tinubu’s journey to France from April 2 and the unfortunate accidents that occurred in the country during the period.
“His return to Abuja and the resumption of the duties of Aso Villa will follow the conclusion of the Easter party,” wrote the spokesman in a declaration on Thursday.
Onanoga said that Mr. Tinubu remained fully engaged in the governance of Nigeria even though it was away in Europe.
“His absence remains temporary and in line with the period of time communicated about two weeks,” he wrote.
He said the president left Paris for London over the weekend and maintained constant communication with key government officials.
“(It is) by supervising critical national issues, including directives for safety items to deal with emerging threats in some parts of the country.
βThe president’s commitment to his duties remains stationary and his administration continues to work effectively under his leadership.
“We appreciate the concern of the public and ensure to all the Nigerians that governance proceeds without interruption,” said Omanuga.
