The president of the Bauchi Electoral Commission Makama Hallawa D! Eg

The president of the independent electoral commission of the state of Bauchi (Basiec), Alhaji Ahmed Makama Hargawa died.

Hardawa, a former resident electoral commissioner (REC) at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) in the States of Taraba and Nasarawa, died in Abuja on Tuesday 29 July 2025, after a short illness.

Reacting to the news, the governor of the state of Bauchi, Senator Bala Mohammed, described the disappearance of Hardawa as a significant loss both for the state and for the nation in general. In a message of condolences issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor has extended sincere sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of the late electoral official.

“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of the state of Bauchi, I offer the heartfelt condolences to the death of Alhaji Ahmed Makama Hardawa,” said the governor Mohammed.

Hardawa described as an expert administrator, respected public official and Nigerian patriotic who served with excellence and integrity.

The governor also praised Hardawa’s mandate as a resident electoral commissioner, highlighting his unshakable commitment for credible electoral processes and democratic values.

Funeral agreements are expected to be announced by the debt -time family.
