The Special Federal Executive Board (FEC) session was previously scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in honor of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, had been postponed, the president was announced on Monday.
According to Bayo Onanuga, special advisors for the President of Information and Strategy, the delay was needed because the funeral time of the State of Buhari, which was also determined for Tuesday in his hometown in Daura, Katsina state.
“The special federal executive board session on Tuesday to respect the former President of Muhammadu Buhari will no longer be announced as announced earlier, given the funeral of the state in his hometown, Daura, on the same day,” said Onanuga.
The Presidential confirmed that the new date for the FEC session will be announced by the Secretary Office for the Federation Government after the funeral process was concluded.
In addition, the Federal government has stated Tuesday, July 15, a national holiday to commemorate the late leader.

Onanuga also revealed that the corpse of Buhari will arrive from London on Tuesday afternoon and will be buried that day in accordance with the Islamic ritual.
“The remnants of the former Nigerian leader will arrive from London on Tuesday during the day, after that he will be committed to Mother Earth in his hometown, in accordance with the Islamic ritual,” he said.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari died on Sunday at a London clinic after a prolonged illness.
Bola President Tinubu had previously directed the transportation of a special FEC meeting to respect Buhari’s services to the country and stated the seven -day national mourning period, with the flag was ordered to fly in half staff throughout the country.
Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff for the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, are currently in London and are expected to accompany Buhari’s body back to Nigeria to be buried.
