The president supports EFCC after Atiku’s son -in -law stated that it was sought

The Presidential has expressed support for the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) following the declaration of business agency Abdullahi Haske, the son -in -law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as sought by the alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

Haske, Founder of AA & R Investment Group, was placed on the EFCC Wanted list after reported to violate the administrative guarantee provisions and failed to respond to several invitations by the commission.

In a notification signed by the head of the media and publicity, Dele Oyewale, EFCC urged community members with knowledge about the existence of Haske to report to the nearest police station or his office nationally. The agency also registered the last address known in Ikoyi and Victoria Island, Lagos, and provided hotlines and email addresses for information.

AA & R Investment Group, which operates in energy, agribusiness, logistics, and ICT, has been associated with an ongoing investigation in the alleged transfer of millions of dollars from the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

Reacting to EFCC’s actions, Aide of Atiku Media, Paul Ibe, described the move as a political persecution, accused that it was an attempt to the administration of the Tinubu Bola President to intimidate opposition figures.

“Our concern is that we hope that the young man will not be a victim because it becomes a in -laws for former vice president. Tinubu has shown the capacity to use the state instrument to harass and intimidate the opposition,” said Ibe

The President, however, rejects the claim as unfounded.

Speaking through a special advisor to the media and communication, Sunday Dare, President Tinubu stated that EFCC acted in his mandate and not on government orders.

“There is no harassment or victimation here, only independent and valid operations from the Nigerian anti-corruption institution. Nothing is above the law,” Dare said.

He added that the Tinubu government was committed to strengthening the rule of law and ensuring the legal process, in contrast to the previous government which, he was accused, a state institution armed for political purposes.

“Those who are trying to politicize the arrest of the son-in-law of a former vice president only understand the straw. Nothing is above the law, and without a strong institution that acts without fear or assistance, there is no country that can really advance,” he said.

Dare further emphasized that EFCC is carrying out its legal duties, supported by law and evidence that can be trusted.

“The Tinubu Ball President does not abuse his office power, unlike those who have armed state institutions for the hunt for political witch. This government is committed to strengthening the rule of law, ensuring a reasonable process, and accelerating the investigation and prosecution supported by trustworthy evidence,” he said.
