Hakimi Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe from the Lagos Special Violation Court, Ikeja, on Tuesday, issued a bench warrant for the arrest of an alleged internet fraud, Peter Ekweozor.
The judge issued a warrant because of the defendant’s failure to appear in court for the indictment.
He postponed this case until June 18 for further processing.
Previously, the advisor to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ayanfe Ogunsina, notifying the court that all efforts to find the defendant and his Surety have failed.
He told the court that Ekweozor was arrested by EFCC on May 13, 2024, at the Indy-Pool Hotel, Ajegunle, Olodi, lagos, along with other suspects.

The arrest, according to him, follows the intelligence that can be relied upon in online fraud syndicates.
He added that the investigation revealed that the defendant suspected of operating a fake Facebook and Instagram account, disguised as a female porn star from Atlanta, America, to deceive internet users who were not suspicious.
Ogunsina said: “The defendant was given an administrative guarantee but escaped, failing to report to the EFCC office in Ikoyi as needed.
“My lord, the defendant knew the accusation and avoided the trial.
“With this I pray that your Lordship issues a historic warrant for him.”
