The scribe of the Tennis Federation, Shammah Makpa, develops Nigeria’s plans for the Davis Cup

The general secretary of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Shammah Makpa, has developed plans that officials in the governing body of Racquet Sport have described for the country’s participation in the Davis Cup and other next international competitions.

Sports247 gathered that the first two competitions currently under the attention of the NTF are the Davis Cup qualifiers for male players and the Billie Jean Cup for women, with both events that will be held in August of this year.

Makpa also revealed that a couple of talents that were seen in the J30 J30 J30 J30 J30 J30 Tennis Championship have just concluded (phase 2) in Abuja will be included in the Nigeria accumulation plan for both competitions.

NTF’s scribe revealed, “We were already planning, as this program was happening, to detect new talents. As the competition advanced, we were also looking to select the best. We want to maintain a kind of progress chain.”

Then he gave details about the immediate events before the Federation and how his goal is to put everything in the right order, to combine young and old players who will represent Nigeria in both nearby competitions.

Makpa added, “In August, we will participate in Group 3 of the Davis Cup, which are the Cup World Cup qualifiers for men. At the same time, for women, we will participate in the Billie Jean Cup, which will come in Namibia … also in August.

“Then, we hope to have some of the players who participated in this competition. We will take the best … one or two of them of this tournament … that will join the elite group.

“This is how we want to do it, and we will continue to observe them as they advance,” Projected Makpa.

Sports247 gathered even more than young players under the NTF center of attention include Lucky Danjuma, who won the single male event after defeating Oriol Álvarez of Spain 6-0, 6-4 in the men’s final.

A similar approach is in the winner of the female category, Success Ogunjobi, who defeated Luczak Louis of Germany 6-3, 7-5 to ensure the title of the Ladies.
