The Senate formed a committee of 18 members to monitor the river administrator, Ibas

The Nigerian Senate has formed the 18-member committee to monitor the Single Administrator Activities of the State of Rivers, Deputy Admiral Ibok-eet IBA (Retd.), In a step aimed at increasing transparency and governance in the state.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the formation of a committee during the plenary session on Tuesday, the naming of the Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidle as its chairman.

“The committee was created in an effort to strengthen transparency and accountability in state governance,” said Akpabio.

The President of the Senate emphasized the critical nature of the committee’s supervision role, describing it as an important thing to ensure legislative supervision of the Rivers state administration.

“Its role is very important in ensuring effective legislative supervision at the Rivers State,” Akpabio said, noting that the composition of the Committee “might be reviewed after further consultation.”

Akpabio directed the committee to start his work immediately, underline the urgency of his mandate and the dedication of the senate to preserve democratic governance in the state of Rivers.

“The president of the senate demands the committee to start his supervision assignment without delay, emphasizing the urgency of their assignment and reaffirms the commitment of the senate to uphold the democratic process in the state of Rivers,” the announcement said.

The committee consists of diverse parliamentary groups, including:
– Senator is Alaieo, Osita Izunaso, Osta Ngwu, Kaka Shehu, Aminu Abass, Tokunbo Abiru, Adeniyi Adebire and Sani Musa.

Others are Simon Lalong, Asuquo Ekpeyong, Adams Oshiomhole, Ireti Kingibe, Onyekachi, Idiat Adebule and Dafinone’s ideas

The Senate Registrar will also serve at the Committee, which is expected to provide routine updates to the Senate regarding the findings and recommendations regarding governance in the state of Rivers.
