The Seyi Makinde government wants Super Eagles matches in Ibadan, declares open 2025 Nff Aga

The governor of the state of Oyo, Seyi Makinde, has asked that international football matches involving the Super Eagles will be organized in Ibadan, reports247 reports.

He said that having the super matches in Ibadan will help his administration to increase the sports economy of the State.

The governor appealed on Saturday morning while declared the annual general assembly of 2025 (AGA) of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Ibadan.

Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of collaboration in sports development, particularly football, which continues to join Nigerians in social and cultural divisions.

“We are trying to develop a sports economy,” he said. “But if we don’t have the support of people like you, some of our efforts will be in vain.”

He assured the NFF already the stakeholders of the State to organize the main sporting events, highlighting the facilities that are already in force in Ibadan.

“The state of Oyo, Ibadan, especially, we want to have the opportunity to organize great events, including the Super Eagles,” Makinde said. “Check out our facilities and I promise that I will give you the support you need.”

The governor also applauded the leadership of the NFF and the Nigeria Premier Football League Board (NPFL) directed by the Hon. GBENGA ELBELEYEYE, for improvements in the Office of Standards and Organization of the League.

According to him, the advances taken in recent seasons have restored greater confidence in the National League, so it is more attractive to fans and investors.

Governor Makinde reiterated the commitment of his administration to use sports as a tool for youth development, job creation and social cohesion.

In addition, he assured that Oyo State will continue to provide the enabling environment so that football and other sports prosper, while strengthening associations with national organizations such as NFF.
