The suicide bomber asks for alms before detonating the explosive – Commissioner of Borno – TrendyNewsReporters

Sugum Mai Mele, Commissioner for Local Government and Emirati Affairs in Borno, has revealed that one of the suicide bombers involved in the recent attacks in Gwoza local area begged for money before detonating his explosive device.

On Saturday, June 29, four suicide bombers carried out attacks in various locations in Gwoza. Speaking to Channels TV on Monday, July 1, Mele explained that the attackers “smuggled” themselves into the town through military gates disguised as farmers.

The attacks targeted people attending a wedding and funeral, resulting in 32 confirmed fatalities and several serious injuries. Commenting on the incident, Mele said;

“Farmers usually go to their farms in the morning. They pass through military gates on their way to and from their farms. Suicide bombers have sneaked in through women returning from farms. “There is some laxity on the part of the screening exercise. Before now, when farmers went out, they would issue the fee and be registered. “In the evening, when they return, it will be noted in the register that they have entered.

Anyone who fails to show up after closing time should be arrested or not allowed to enter. “What happened in Gwoza is that these women entered the town pretending to be farmers. I found out that one of them was even carrying a baby. “She went to the scene of the incident. She was begging and people even started giving her incentives: N20, N50 and N100. “She was collecting alms in the name of a beggar. Then, all of a sudden, she detonated the bomb. This is what is happening.”
