Sultan Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Sunday as Eid al -Fitr in the country.
The Sultan made an announcement on national radio and television broadcasts on Saturday.
He confirmed the appearance of Shawwal’s new crescent crescent in various parts of the country.
Abubakar, who is the President General of Nigeria’s Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), said March 30 was the first day of Shawwal 1446 AH in Nigeria.
He added that the Report on the Sighting of the Moon was received from Emir Borno, Zazzau, Daura, Kwandu, and Muslim leaders and organizations throughout the country.

The Sultan said: “After verification and authentication by the National Month Observation Committee, as well as confirmation from the State Committee, the New Moon Shawwal was officially recognized.
“This marks the end of Ramadhan 1446 AH. In accordance with Islamic law, Muslims must observe Eid al -Fitr on Sunday, March 30.”
He urged Muslims to uphold the lessons picked during Ramadan and to maintain their prayers for peace throughout the country.
He also asked them to pray for the nation’s leaders.
In addition, the Sultan encourages rich people to continue to help those who are less special as practiced during Ramadan.
