The Super Eagles midfielder tastes his first defeat with the English team

Frank Onyeka, who has been a revelation for English Championship side Coventry City, tasted defeat for the first time in hopes of promotion after a 1-2 defeat against Southampton, reports OwnGoalNigeria.com.

Onyeka joined the team in the January transfer window and played six matches before today’s match which ended in a defeat for his team. He was on the pitch for 78 minutes for the team led by Frank Lampard.

His loan will be until the end of the season, but there is the option of Coventry signing him permanently if they achieve promotion to the English Premier League.

They are still eight points clear at the top and nine points clear of third-placed Ipswich Town, with the top two guaranteeing automatic promotion to the English Premier League, although the teams behind them have not yet played like they did at the time of this report.

Coventry City will most likely seal promotion if they win their next six games, and that will immediately lead to the permanent signing of Onyeka, who has been a delight for Frank Lampard’s team.
