The Super Eagles star insists that the NFF is to blame because Osimhen did not apologise to Finidi for his speech

Former Nigeria senior national team coach Finidi George caused a stir when he revealed in an interview with Nigeria’s leading radio station, Nigerian Info, that he has not received an apology from Victor Osimhen for his verbal rant against him despite having communicated with him.

Osimhen took to Instagram to criticise the coach over a report alleging that the coach questioned his commitment to the team after he missed the team’s World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic due to a knock.

The coach reportedly told a seven-man committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that the 25-year-old could have played in at least one of the matches, had he been so committed to the team.

However, Finidi denied making any such comments and even said he contacted Osimhen after the video to clarify that he did not say what was reported, but did not get a response from the newly signed Galatasaray striker.

“I sent him a message telling him it was not the best way, just someone told you that the coach said that and you are talking about me as if I said it in an interview,” Finidi told Nigeria Info FM.

β€œFrom that moment on I didn’t hear from him again. I moved on and I wish everyone the best. Only God will judge.”

Reacting to our story on the incident, Osimhen’s international teammate said the NFF should take the blame for the striker’s decision not to apologise for what was a completely disrespectful act not only towards the coach, but the entire country as a whole.

β€œThe NFF did not call Osimhen after the video I collected. So who will call him to order? They defended him over the coach and only reacted when stories came out that he had been kicked out of the team. It tells you how weak the institution is and to what extent the scared cow politics is present in the team,” he said in a message to a member of our editorial team via Instagram.

β€œWhen Leon Balogun gave an interview about unpaid salaries, we all saw how they immediately issued a statement. Why not in this case? People should leave Osimhen alone and blame the right, after all, it was one of them who supposedly spoke to him after the meeting with Finidi.”
