The Nigerian Supreme Court has denied the claim that Judge Emmanuel Agim accompanied the Federal Capital Minister, Nyesom Wike, to a meeting ceremony at the University of Calabar.
Akande Festus, Director of Information and Public Relations for the High Court, released a statement on Monday which clarified the state of the presence of AGIM’s judiciary. “Given the report circulating on social media and other news platforms, we want to clarify the situation around the presence of Hon. Judge Emmanuel Akomaye Agim from the Supreme Court of Nigeria at the Calabar University Meeting Ceremony on Saturday, March 22, 2025,” Festus said.
The statement discussed incorrect information circulating. “It has been our concern that misleading information has emerged, shows that Hon. Judge Emmanuel Agim accompanied the Minister of Hon.
Festus clarified that Judge Agim was present as the recipient of the award. “AGIM’s justice attended the event as a recipient of awards and alumni, which was considered feasible by the University Government Council to receive a doctorate of honor in law.”

The statement highlighted the contribution of Judge AGIM to the legal profession. “He is recognized for his significant contribution to the legal profession, which reflects his commitment to justice, integrity, and rule of law, functions as a model for prospective professionals and students who have high aspires.”
Festus explained the decision of Judge Agim to attend the meeting. “Although Judge Agim was originally scheduled to attend the funeral ceremony of Judge Stanley Alagoa in the state of Bayelsa along with other Supreme Court Chief Justices, he asked permission to attend the University of Calabar Convocation instead.”
The Supreme Court emphasizes the Independent Participation of the Agim Hakim Agim. “The participation of justice is fully independent and not in any official capacity for any ministry or government department.
