Although this article has nothing to do with that grand wedding, I am still of the opinion that Davido should have taken a break, to savor the goodwill that accompanied that event, rather than getting involved in a pointless legal battle with his ex-girlfriend, Sophia Momodu, over the custody of their precious daughter, Imade.
All over the world, child custody has always been a thorny issue between separated celebrity couples. Therefore, there is nothing unusual about the fight between Davido and Sophia, except for the fact that Davido, just a couple of days ago, found himself a lovely life partner and almost simultaneously, asked for the custody of the only daughter he had with Sophia. In my opinion, it is too sudden. I leave her there! Yes! Imade must be very dear and precious to Davido. There is no doubt about that. And that might have informed the reason why he named her after his beautiful mother, whom he sadly lost, before his teenage years. For that reason, one could easily find a reason why Davido wants Imade very close. Don’t start the debate about why the little girl and not the mommy? Neither Davido nor Sophia instructed me to do so. By the way, they have long since moved on with their respective lives. The prayers therefore are that they both find a better, healthier and happier life outside of each other. However, in my opinion, Davido is a bit selfish and rude in trying to take over the only interest that keeps him and Sophia together. After all, he now has Chioma forever. Sophia is still alone.
Imade may be her only consolation for now, until she finds love if… Thankfully, Davido has given up the legal fight. He may not have won, though. Imade, at 9, knows where she would be happiest. After all, she has been with her mother all these years, with possible help from a nanny. Mothers have a way with their young daughters, regardless of their occasional disagreements. It’s a different story when they are older. Most grown women find their fathers as allies, at some point. Imade may not be different.
This should be Davido’s consolation. Imade would one day show up alone at Davido’s palatial home because Sophia had somehow “misbehaved”. While we wait for that to happen, I have seen the reasons why Sophia needed Imade in her care. It only takes a fool to easily forget the circumstances that led to the painful death of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi. Neglect is an understatement. Accept it or not, Imade could be abused in Davido’s home given the crowd around him. Also, would Chioma give her (Imade) the same attention and care that Sophia would give? That’s an open debate. In the meantime, I’m gone and out of the picture. 👆By Ebor Cletus Ralph Jr.
