The UN Security Council on Wednesday adopted a resolution condemning attacks by Iran against Gulf Cooperation Council member states and Jordan.
The decision was passed with 13 votes in favor, while Russia and China abstained.
Introduced by Bahrain and supported by 135 co-sponsoring countries, the resolution reaffirms international support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Gulf bloc and Jordan.
The document emphasizes “strong support for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and political independence” of the GCC countries and Jordan.
The council also strongly condemned Tehran’s alleged military actions, stating that it “strongly condemns the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ‘horrific attacks against’ the Gulf countries and Jordan,” warning that the incidents “constitute a violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security.”
Council members further condemned attacks on non-military targets, and noted that civilian facilities had been attacked during the conflict.

The resolution condemns the targeting of civilian infrastructure, which “results in civilian casualties and damage to civilian structures.”
Responding to the adoption of the measure, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the UN, Jamal Fares Alrowaiei, described the vote as a strong signal of the council’s commitment to stability.
“This proves that the Council is committed to maintaining international peace and security.
“We express our deepest gratitude to all UN member states who co-sponsored this resolution.
“Their number is 135 countries. This extraordinary support from the international community reflects collective awareness of the danger of Iran’s unjust attacks against our country,” he said.
