
The United Kingdom has expressed its commitment to restore peace, stability and sustainable solutions to the troubled northern -eastern region, which was read by the insurrection.
The high British commissioner, Gill Atkinson, committed himself on Monday when he paid a request for courtesy to the governor of the state of Borno Babagana Zulum in Maiduguri.
Atkinson, who praised Zulum for his commitment to fight the insurrection in Borno, said: “On behalf of the British government, I recognize the effort of his excellence, the governor, to face the insurrection and support the people of the State of Borno, in particular aiming to guarantee a prosperous future for the broken people for insurrection.
“I want to reaffirm the United Kingdom’s commitment to support peace, stability and sustainable solutions, in particular through the current regional stabilization structure.”
Replying, the secretary of the state government of Borno who received the deputy high commissioner on behalf of the Governor Zulum expressed appreciation for the government of the United Kingdom for their partnership and their support.
He said: “With the government of the United Kingdom to start, we have a number of very strong partnerships.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner for the Environment, ENGR EMET KOIS, Education, Engr Lawan Abba Wakilbe, Work and Housing, Engin Mustapha Gubio, Transport and Energy, Aliyu Mohammed Bamanga and intergovernmental and special duties, Tukur Shani.
Others present include a special consultant for the security of the governor, Abdullahi Ishaq, the senior, political, governor assistant, Alhaji Tahiru Shettimo, permanent secretary of politics and cabinet, Danjuma Ali and executive secretary of the Borno State Agency for the coordination of sustainable development and humanitarian response (Boacsdhr), Babakura Mamman.
