The United States government deports 6 Nigerians

Six Nigerians have been deported to the United States for various crimes, as part of a wider repression of immigration by the United States government.

Their deportation was in relation to a decision by the United States government to expel at least 3,000 Nigerians, who had been involved in various crimes in the country.

The deportees arrived on Wednesday through a Delta Airlines flight at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, just before 9 in the morning

They have been received by officials from various Nigerian government agencies, which will determine the next line of action.

Recall that the United States government has announced the plan to make further deportations in line with its rationalization of immigration in the country.

President Donald Trump had launched an unprecedented repression of mass immigration in his first 100 days in office, retaining more people for immigration violations and allowing arrests outside schools and courts.

He said he would trigger incursions on the workplace to find immigrants without documents. On Monday, he signed an order that directs his attorney general and the secretary of national security to fill in a list of so -called “cities of the sanctuary” which, according to the administration officials, do not collaborate sufficiently with the federal deportation efforts.

The number of immigration arrests in the workplace has tripled since Trump came in office, according to Trump’s border tsar, Tom Homan. “It’s about to triple again,” said Homan. Trump had promised the campaign track to restore the raids to the workplace, which had been largely reduced under the Biden administration.

With the new executive order, Trump is threatening to cut federal funding to the cities and says that his administration considers unwittingly in his mass deportation efforts. In the order, Trump gave the prosecutor General Pam Bondi and the secretary of national security Kristi Noem a deadline of May 28 to publish a list of cities, counties and states that hinder “the application of federal laws on immigration”. He also ordered each federal agency to identify the funds “for suspension or resolution”.
