The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Father Adasu University, Makurdi branch (FAUM), has threatened to go on strike over unresolved welfare issues affecting its members.
The union noted unresolved issues including unpaid salary arrears, promotional allowances, and alleged irregularities in the delivery of pension funds.
ASUU stated its position in a communiqué issued on Saturday in Makurdi and signed by the branch secretary, Prof. Daniel Chile.
The agency said that several attempts to engage university management on the issue have so far not resulted in any concrete commitments.

According to the union, the ASUU congress, held on January 20, directed the branch executive committee to formally alert the university management about the long-standing welfare issues affecting staff.
“Among the main concerns raised was the remaining 22 months of arrears related to the implementation of the national minimum wage and the provision of 25/35 percent wages.
“Promotional arrears for several staff members since 2018, and inconsistencies in the delivery of pension contribution contributions to staff pension accounts.
“The union also reported deficiencies and negligence in the payment of Academic Allowances (EAA) to several lecturers,” the communique read.
The union said that following the congress resolution, its leadership met with university management regarding the issue, but management failed to provide a clear timeline for resolving the issue.
The union further revealed that it has forwarded the 2025 ASUU-Federal Government agreement to the university management for the second time under the current vice-chancellor’s administration.
Unions warned that continued delays could trigger stronger action.
